Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this site. That includes people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, or other assistive technologies.

Our Commitment

Donate ALS Foundation is committed to making donate-foundation.org accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard used by most government agencies and recognized accessibility frameworks worldwide. This applies to the full donate-foundation.org website, including all pages added as the site grows.

We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time checklist. When we add pages or update features, accessibility review is part of the process.

What We've Built

 • Descriptive alt text on all images. Every image includes a text description that screen readers can read aloud. Where an image is decorative and adds no information, it’s marked as such.
 • Keyboard navigation throughout. You can tab through the site without using a mouse. Interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields — are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
 • Color contrast that meets WCAG 2.1 AA. Text and background combinations are chosen to meet the 4.5:1 minimum contrast ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text and interface elements.
 • Labeled form fields and clear error messages. Forms on the site have visible labels. If you submit a form with missing or incorrect information, the error message tells you specifically what to fix.
 • Logical heading structure. Pages are organized with proper H1, H2, and H3 heading elements so screen reader users can navigate by heading and understand the page structure.
 • Meaningful link text. Links describe where they go. You won’t find “click here” — you’ll find descriptive labels like “learn how to apply as an NGO partner.”
 • Scalable text. You can increase text size up to 200% in your browser without the page breaking or content being cut off.

Known Limitations

We’re a small team. We try to get this right, and we don’t always succeed on the first attempt.

At the time this statement was last reviewed, we are not aware of specific accessibility failures on the current version of the site. But we can’t promise we’ve found everything — and the site is actively being built, which means new content and features are added regularly.

If you find something we’ve missed, please tell us.

How to Report an Issue

If you encounter something on this site that’s difficult or impossible to use, we want to know. Email us at [email protected] and tell us:

 • Which page you were on
 • What you were trying to do
 • What happened instead
 • The assistive technology or browser you were using, if relevant

We’ll respond within 5 business days. If a fix takes longer, we’ll let you know what we’re doing and when to expect it.

Formal Complaints

If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled an accessibility concern, you can contact the relevant authority in your jurisdiction. In the United States, the Department of Justice handles complaints related to website accessibility under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

We’d rather hear from you directly first. But that option exists if you need it.

Third-Party Content

Some content on the site comes from partner organizations — campaign descriptions, impact updates, photos. We ask our partners to provide accessible content, but we can’t guarantee that everything they submit meets WCAG standards. If you encounter inaccessible partner-provided content, let us know and we’ll work with the organization to address it.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe’s own accessibility practices are covered by their documentation.

Standards and Review

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1, Level AA. This statement was last reviewed in April 2026. We review and update our accessibility practices whenever significant changes are made to the site, and at minimum once a year.
