Support families accessing developmental care

Some families need temporary help while they navigate insurance, Regional Center steps, or other payment options for their child’s developmental care.

About this story

A family should not lose access to support while they wait for funding. Some parents reach the right program before every payment step is solved. They may still be learning how Regional Center works, waiting on insurance, or trying to understand what support their child may qualify for.

For families navigating developmental differences such as autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, or sensory processing needs, delays can make an already complex process feel harder.

Sunny Nest Learning Hub is being built for families navigating developmental differences such as autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and sensory processing needs. Many of these families are newly arrived or Russian-speaking parents trying to understand California’s care system in a second language.

A small financial assistance fund is meant to reduce that first barrier for families who are still working through insurance, Regional Center steps, or other public funding options.

What this support covers

Your support helps create a small assistance fund for families facing cost barriers while seeking developmental support.

The fund is intended to help with:

  • Partial support for therapy-related access
  • Temporary assistance while families navigate funding options
  • Support for families without immediate ability to pay
  • Care continuity during funding delays

Goal: $2,000

Why support is needed now

Developmental support often depends on timing and consistency. Financial assistance can help reduce delays for families who are already trying to understand care options, paperwork, and funding systems.

  • When a family doesn’t understand the system, support can feel out of reach. Sunny Nest was created to make that first step clearer — for children who need care, and for parents who need guidance in a language they understand.
